TCU & gearbox tuning. Calibrated to match.

Transmission control unit calibration for supported gearboxes.

TCU & gearbox tuning.

Your transmission control unit decides when and how your gearbox shifts. TCU tuning is a calibration of that software on supported gearboxes. It can be requested on its own, or alongside an engine calibration so the engine and gearbox work together.

On many supported automatics, a gearbox file is available alongside the engine file.

  • Calibration of the transmission control unit
  • Supported gearboxes and control units vary
  • Request alone or alongside an engine tune
  • Compatibility confirmed before work

Better together

Engine and gearbox, working as one.

If you are considering an engine tune, ask about the gearbox at the same time. A matched calibration is easier to plan than two separate jobs.

What a TCU calibration can touch.

Which areas can be adjusted varies by gearbox and control unit. These are typical examples.

  • Behaviour

    Shift behaviour

How and when the gearbox changes gear, depending on the unit.

  • Torque

    Torque handling

How much torque the transmission is asked to handle, which matters when engine output changes.

  • Speed

    Shift speed

How quickly a shift is carried out, where the control unit allows it.

  • Protection

    Gearbox protection

Limits that protect the transmission stay under review.

  • Pairing

    Matched with the engine

A matched engine and gearbox calibration, when both are tuned.

  • Support

    Supported units

Which gearboxes can be adjusted varies by unit. We confirm for yours.

How a TCU job runs.

  1. Tell us about the car

Share your vehicle, gearbox and what you would like to change.

  2. Confirm compatibility

We check whether your gearbox and control unit are supported.

  3. Calibrate

The TCU calibration is prepared for your setup, with checksums handled on write.

  4. Review

We check the result with you and agree any next step.

Before you enquire.

Helpful to know

  • Your gearbox type, for example DSG, DCT or torque-converter automatic
  • Any engine or hardware changes
  • Current software, if you know it
  • Any existing faults or warning lights

What we'll confirm

  • Whether your gearbox controller is supported
  • Whether an unlock is needed first
  • Whether an engine tune would help
  • The plan and timing

Good to know.

Which gearboxes are supported?

Support varies by gearbox and control unit. The Vehicle Finder lists engine and gearbox controllers where available, and we confirm availability for your vehicle.

Do I need an engine tune too?

Not necessarily. A TCU calibration can be requested separately or alongside an engine tune. We advise based on your vehicle.

Is a gearbox tune right for my car?

That depends on the vehicle, gearbox and what you want to change. Tell us your goals and we'll advise.

Does my gearbox controller need unlocking?

Possibly. Some controllers have security that must be unlocked first. We confirm this during the review.
